Mark Rothko once said, “A painting is not about an experience. It is an experience.”

This 48” x 48” oil on canvas, work in progress, invites the viewer to see the surface as an emotional mirror. The painting exists in the experience it creates.

After 30 years and more than 500 paintings, I’ve finally gotten out of the way, leaving only the surface to engage with — not the artist’s process.
