A year ago, I was speaking with an artist friend about attending artist residencies. Art residencies are a great way to explore a new city, and meet new artists from around the globe. Most importantly, it is an opportunity to be open to new influences and allow your work to be impacted. Some residencies create an environment of solitude and a view with which to work. Other residencies are highly structured, and from the structure opportunities and revelations occur.
I explored programs all around the world and in the end, I chose Green Olive Arts in Tetouan, Morocco. I had always wanted to experience Morocco and GreenOliveArts.com did an excellent job selecting talented and diverse artists from Australia, US, Canada, Holland, Iceland, Pakistan, and Bahrain. I couldn’t have been luckier to share my month with this group.
